Figure one=16cm^2, Figure two=24cm^2, composite figure=40cm^2

Explanation:

fig 1 has one side length of 4 and we can find its other length by adding 5 and 3 and then subtracting it from 12 which equals 4 now since two sides are 4, it means that this shape is a square and 4^2 is 16cm^2 and the rectangle has the length of 12 and breadth of 2 so l*b=24cm^2 and to find the area of the composite shape we simply add these area up

16cm^2+24cm^2=40cm^2
