Calculating mean and median for whole numbers are pretty easy. While the fractional numbers are little more calculated.

Step-by-step explanation: For example let us take:

2/3, 3/4, 5/4

Mean: To find the mean of above number, we shall calculate the LCM of the denominator:

LCM of 3,4,4 is 12

Now, to calculate the mean, follow a simple formula:

Average value ÷ Number of value

that is: 2×4 + 3×3 + 5×3 ÷ 12 (÷3)

= 8+9+15÷12 (÷3)

= 2.6÷3

=0.8

therefore the required mean for given fraction is 0.8

Median: To find the median of a fraction, first we shall deduce the fraction in the decimal numbers

2/3 = 0.6

3/4 = 0.75

5/4 = 1.25

replace the decimals into ascending order

0.6, 0.75, 1.25

The middle most value is our required median

Median of given fraction is 0.75
