the area of the remaining garden is

A = area of rectangle - area of 2 triangular planters

area of rectangle = 30 × 14 = 420 ft²

area of 2 triangles = 2 ×
(1)/(2) bh ( b = 5 and h = 4 )

= 2 ×
(1)/(2) × 5 × 4

= 5 × 4

= 20 ft²

then

A = 420 - 20 = 400 ft²
