Explanation:

There are THREE rectanglular sides and two triangular sides to sum

triangle area = 1/2 base * height = 1/2 *6 * 4 = 12 cm^2

there are TWO of them so 24 cm^2

Rectangular side 5 x 12 = 60 two of them = 120 cm^2

and one rectangular side of 6 x 12 = 72 cm^2

total area is then 12 + 120 + 72 = 204 cm^2

Answer = 216 cm^2 total surface area

Surface area is L x W for rectangles, 1/2bh for triangles

Break down the figure into
Bottom = 6 x 12 = 72 cm^2
Two triangle ends = (1/2)(6)(4) = 12 x 2 ends = 24 cm*2
Two sides = 5 x 12 = 60 x 2 sides = 120 cm^2

Add these 5 sides together for total

72 + 24 + 120 = 216 cm^2 total surface area
