A cat gave birth to 444 kittens. Three of the kittens had different weights between 147\,\text{g}147g147, start text, g, end text and 159\,\text{g}159g159, start text, g, end text, and one kitten weighed 57\,\text{g}57g57, start text, g, end text. [Show data] The kitten that weighed 57\,\text{g}57g57, start text, g, end text was then adopted, so that kitten was removed from the data set.

Both the mean and median will increase, but the mean will increase by more than the median.

Removing the kitten will increase the median a little bit, because the median shifts from between two data points to the higher of the two data points.

Removing the kitten will increase the mean significantly, because the total weight will decrease by only 57g, and the number of kittens decreases by 1.
