Buddhism had a major impact on their society. It appealed to the lower class because it emphasized an individual’s path is enlightenment and salvation. It became a voice for caste discrimination and social oppression. It uplifted women by making religion and education available.

Buddhism appealed more people because it was spreading fast. New places were offering teaching/schooling. They had more opportunities.
