Barbara Jordan was an attorney and instructor who was a representative from 1972 to 1978 - the principal African American senator to come from the profound South and the very first lady chose for the Texas Senate.

After a short time, Jordan became dynamic in governmental issues by lobbying for the Democratic official ticket of John F. Kennedy and individual Texan Lyndon B. Johnson.
