We can use the point-slope formula and create an equation that simplifies into the slope-intercept form. The point-slope formula is y-y1=m(x-x1) but we have an issue. We don't have the slope! We can use the slope formula though so it is not an issue. The slope formula is (y2-y1)/(x2-x1) in this case it would be (7-(-5))/(7-4)=12/3=4

We can now use the slope and the point (1,7) and figure out the equation.

Substitute:

y-7=4(x-1)

y-7=4x-4

y=4x+3
