Explanation:

Without superscripts or parenthesis your problem could be written two different ways. So I did both. Also, of the more likely version of your question, there's sort of an intro way to solve:

Solving Using Common Bases, and a more advanced way Using Logarithms. I did this both ways also.

For Solving Using Common Bases, you must notice that 256 is a power of 2.

2^8 is 256.

You will also use some exponent rules, and a little distributive property (super worth knowing! It never goes away and is always useful--distributive property)

As for Using Logarithms, there's ONE move that's critically important to know and that is how to change from an exponential sentence to a logarithmic sentence. See image.
