Moving Out

Sara pranced around the entire room with a huge grin
plastered on her face. She had received the approval letter from
the university, and she would soon be moving to Atlanta. Sara's
enthusiasm was infectious, and it reminded me of the day when I
had received my approval letter from the same university in
Atlanta. Like Sara, I had also excitedly hopped around the house
with the letter in my hand..
I remembered both Mom and Dad being thrilled with the news
of my admission. I could hear Dad proudly boast about my
achievements to his friends and Mom making preparations to
bake a celebratory cake for the occasion. Amidst all this chaos, I
spotted Sara quietly walking into her room with her head hung
low. I followed her to find out what was wrong.
I found Sara lying on her bed with her face under the pillow.
When I called out her name, she did not respond. So, I went up to
her and asked her if she was happy about my decision of studying
at the university. When she did not respond, I jokingly added, "You
have always wanted the whole room to yourself and it's all yours
now." When Sara looked up to give a reply, I could see a hint of
pride in her eyes, but there was an emotion I couldn't identify. An
emotion that caused tears to roll down her cheeks and her words
to falter.
"Along with the whole room, the wardrobe will also be mine,"
said Sara as she hugged me tight.
