Lake Tahoe benefits the economy by bringing tourism to the area. With many tourists in the area, it benefits hotels and AirBNB for those renting a room or home to stay in. Restaurants and grocers make money from the tourist wanting to eat and have barbecues and others. They generally don’t care how much they spend because they are on vacation. Then there is the gas that they buy, the materials such as sunscreen and sunglasses and toiletries and accessories, the rental equipment (kayaks, boats, toys, vehicles to get there) and more! In the end, the businesses are taxed, but they keep a lot of revenue while the government makes tax money to further improve infrastructure , fund projects, etc.
