The width would be: 71 cm

First you would want to multiply
81*2

81*2=162\ \text{cm}

Now you want to take the total of the whole painting and subtract it by 162.

304-162= 142\ \text{cm}

Now divide 142 by 2 to get your answer.

142/ 2= 71\ \text{cm}

Then you are left with your answer: 71 cm

The length is 71 because perimeter is side + side + side + side so therefore you add 81+81 = 162 and subtract the total from that so 304-162 which equals 142 and then divide by 2 to find the length to one side which will equal 71
