Mike wants to buy a leather wallet that costs $28 and is

on sale for 10% off. If the tax is 8.75% what is the cost
of the wallet with the discount and the tax included?
(Hint: this will take a minimum of 2-steps)

Answer: 27.405

Explanation:

We must first evaluate what 10% of 28 even is: After writing out both quantities and placing them in numerator-denominator areas, you'd see that 10% of 28 is 2.8.

28 - 2.8 is 25.2.

Furthermore, we would only now need to tax 8.75% onto 25.2, with the final cost of said wallet being 27.405 (calculated by 25.2 + 2.205), 2.205 being the tax added onto the product on-sale.

(Don't copy and paste this!)

Speaking of wallets, do you know how empty your wallet could be due to possible unemployment if you can't answer a question as mathematically simple as this a couple years from now? Fix up big man (or woman?)
