Pete needs 270 sq ft. of paint for his garage floor.

The formula for area of a trapezoid is

A=(a+b)/2h

a=18 base

b=12 base

h=18 height

A=(18+12)/2*18

A=270

So, Pete needs 270 sq ft. of paint for his garage floor.
