Answer: If Charles had purchased the same amount of pretzels as Lupe bought at the wholesaler, He would spend $20 for 8 pounds of pretzels.

Explanation:

Given that,Lupe bought 8 pounds of pretzels at a local wholesaler for $18.Charles bought 6 pounds of pretzels at the supermarket for $15.Amount in the supermarket for 6 pounds of pretzels = $15Amount in the supermarket for 1 pound of pretzels = 15 / 6 = $2.5So the unit rate of pretzel in the supermarket is $2.5 per pound.Amount for 8 pounds of pretzels = 8 × $2.5 = $20But Lupe bought the same amount for $18.So the better deal is gotten by Lupe.

therefore Charles would have spend $20 if he bought 8 pounds of pretzels
