Explanation:

Speed with the wind = s + w = 3720 km / 3 hr = 1240 km/hr

Speed against the wind = s-w = 5000 / 5 = 1000 km/hr

s+ w = 1240

s-w = 1000 add these two equations together and solve for 's'

2s = 2240

s = speed of plane in still air = 1120 km/hr

then wind : s+ w = 1240 shows w = 120 km/hr
