Answer:

direct speech

Direct speech shows a person's exact words. Quotation marks ("....") are a sign that the words are the exact words that a person used.

What is direct speech and examples?

Direct speech is a sentence in which the exact words spoken are reproduced in speech marks (also known as quotation marks or inverted commas). For example: "You'll never guess what I've just seen!" said Sam, excitedly. "What's that?" asked Louise.

Here are a few examples:

If someone said "You're welcome" in response to a thank you, the direct speech version would be: "I'm glad I could help."

If someone wrote "You're welcome" in a message, the direct speech version could be: "No problem, happy to assist."

If someone greeted another person with "You're welcome to join us," the direct speech version could be: "Please feel free to join us."

Hope I helped!!
