In this video, you will meet the Oldham family. They have three sons, two of whom have been diagnosed with autism. Both sons have benefited from home-based, one-on-one Applied Behavior Analysis Therapy (ABA). The therapy costs $7000 a month per child for the recommended 40 hours a week. They live in a state that does not currently mandate that medical insurance pay for ABA services. The family cannot afford to pay for the cost of the services for both boys. As you watch this video, think about the ethical issues related to requiring insurance companies to pay for this expense.

1 - This family faces a major dilemma. What do you think they should do?

2 - There are two sides to the ethical issues presented in the video. What are your thoughts on these two different perspectives? Which of the two would you support?
