A telephone pole 60 feet high casts a shadow 80 feet long at the same time that a tree casts a shadow 120 feet. What is the height of the tree

Since a telephone pole is 60 feet and it’s shadow is 80 you would say subtract 60 from 80 and it equals 20 . So that means you would do 120 - 20 and that equals 100

The height of the tree would be 90 feet. To solve the problem, you would need to cross multiply so you would put 60( the height of the telephone pole) over x( the height of the tree) times 80 (the shadow of the telephone pole) over 120 ( the shadow of the tree). You multiply x and 80 and get 80x and multiply 120 and 60 and get 7,200. 80x=7,200, so the last step would be to divide 7,200 by 80 and you get 90. Make sure to add the units also in your answer (feet).
