The mean of 6, 8, x + 2, 10, 2x - 1, and 2 is 9. Find the value of x and also the value of the observation in the data.

x = 9

Number of observations = 6

Sum of observations = 54

Explanation:

Number of observations, n = 6

Mean = ΣX / n

(6 + 8 + x + 2 + 10 + 2x - 1 + 2) / 6 = 9

(27 + 3x) / 6 = 9

27 + 3x = 6 * 9

27 + 3x = 54

3x = 54 - 27

3x = 27

x = 27 / 3

x = 9
