Answer:

x= 4

Explanation:

x acts as a perpendicular bisector so we can form two right angled triangles

it means the length that is 6 divides by two so each triangle can have 3 units at the bottom

So we can take one right angled triangle and use Pythagoras theorem to find x

from Pythagoras theorem

a²+b²=c² of which c is the hypothenuse,and a and b are the other two sides

x² + 3² = 5²

x²+3²-3² = 5² - 3² (you need to isolate x² )

x² = 25 - 9

x²= 16

to find x whe find the square root of both sides

√x² = +/-√16

x= +/- 4

x is therefore equal to + 4 because length can be negative
