Regional/ District Council A group of local unions in a particular geographic area that work together to coordinate their activities and represent their members.

National Union A union that represents workers in a particular industry or occupation throughout a country.

International Union A union that represents workers in a particular industry or occupation across multiple countries.

Federations Coalitions, or groups, of national unions that work together to coordinate their activities and represent their members. Examples include the AFL-CIO and Change to Win Federation.
