What is the answer for ¼ +6 ⅓

Explanation:

Well to add fractions, you should make the denominator (denominator means the lower part for example 4 in ¼) the same for all numbers.

Forget the 6 for now, take only ¼ and ⅓ into consideration, make it have the same denominator

For 1/4 you multiply both up and down by 3 so it will become 3/12

For 1/3, multiply both by 4, so it becomes 4/12

You now have 3/12 and 4/12, let's not forget about the 6 now.

How do you obtain 6 if you have to make 12 denominator? (If you do 12×6 you get 72 right?) so 6 = 72/12

Your answer will be obtained like this

1/4 + 6 + 1/3 = 3/12 + 72/12 + 4/12 = 79/12 and you can make it a whole number if you can.

Ans : 79/12 which is also equal to 6 and 7 over 12 (6 7/12)
