Help ASAP Electroscope problem

Assume you have a gold leaf electroscope
whose leaves are positively charged. If you bring an electrically neutral rod close to it the leaves: A-diverge more B-diverge less C-their divergence doesn't change D-none of the above

Answer:

An excess of positive (or negative) charge causes the leaves to diverge

Bringing a neutral rod in the vicinity of the electroscope will cause some of the positive charge to leave the leaves (making the electrically neutral rod negative at the tip) causing the leaves to converge.
