Answer is 27 students want to be rescued

Step by step

x = total students

40% of x = 18

.40x = 18

Divide both sides by .40 to solve x

.40/.40 x = 18/.40

x = 45 total students

45 total students - 18 want to stay = 27 students want to be rescued
