Explanation:

Use the distance formula ( a modified Pyhtagorean theorem)

d^2 = (x1-x2)^2 + ( y1-y2)^2

d^2 = ( -6 - -9)^2 + ( -1 - -6)^2

d^2 = ( 3^2) + ( 5^2)

d^2 = 34

d = sqrt (34 ) =~ 5.8 units
