Subject: Cities losing greenery due to urbanization
Sir:
I write to
you to express my deep concern over the problem of loss of greenery due to
sprawling urbanization. The ever increasing urbanization due to increasing
population cannot be stopped. The best option is construction of smart cities
that are well planned and are installed with pollution treatment plants and are
based on sustainable development principles must be the law. No unplanned human
settlements should be allowed. Since the land is the limited factor in the
entire world, and the mankind has already denuded billions of hectares of
forests, apartment buildings should be constructed.
Delhi and
NCR region witnessed the worst smog in November and December 2017. The pollution
level had reached critical. The schools had to be closed for health safety
reasons. Uncontrolled urbanization and lack of greenery in the cities are
directly the cause of this deterioration of environment.
The people
must give environment the top priority even while constructing any building,
settlement, township, or city. The pristine green belt left sparsely must not
be touched at all. These green spaces are the unique purifiers. So they must be
maintained and preserved at any cost.
Through the
medium of your esteemed newspaper I appeal to the Environment Ministries at the
state and central levels to look into the matter and implement stricter laws to
preserve greenery in the cities. Thanking you.
Yours truly,
