PROJECT: PERSONAL LETTERS

Here is your goal for this assignment:

Apply your knowledge of personal letters to compose all three types of personal letters

Personal Letter #1. Write a friendly letter to a relative or friend. Follow the format shown in “Structure and Form of Personal Letters.” After it has been checked by your teacher, it would be a good idea to actually send the letter.

Personal Letter #2. Write a letter of invitation. This letter will use the structure and form of a personal letter and will have only one or two paragraphs. Include these details:

1. Pretend you are inviting a friend, who lives sixty miles away, to a weekend in the mountains with your family.
2. If your friend accepts, explain that your family will pick him or her up on the way to the mountains; tell him or her also what to bring, such as a sleeping bag and warm clothing.
3. State the day, date, and time of arrival at your friend's house and the day, date, and time of return.
4. Be specific about where you will spend the weekend and what you will do.

Personal Letter #3. Write a thank-you letter. The subject of your thank-you letter can be the sweater your grandmother gave you, or any other gift and giver of your choice.

Dear Ellie,

Thanks for buying me new clothing for the summer. I appreciate the gesture very much as you know how much I needed it. The clothing fit very nicely. I hope you have a nice day!

Sincerely,

Dear Lilah,

You are invited to spend the weekend with my family and I at the mountains. If you are able to accept, it takes place on June 17th. We will pick you up on our way to the mountains at 5pm, Central Time. You must also bring your own sleeping bag, warm clothing, swimsuit, and blankets. We will spend the weekend taking pictures, relaxing, and sailing the mountain rivers. Lifejackets will also be provided. The date of return will be June 21st at 10 a.m.

Sincerely,

Dear Grandma,

Thank you so much for the bracelet you gifted to me. We are all very happy with our gifts and wish we could see you once more. We hope you continue to be safe and happy.

Love,

there you lazy ba stard

Personal Letter #1:

Dear [Name],

I hope this letter finds you well. It feels like it's been ages since we last caught up! How has life been treating you? I've been keeping busy with work and family, but I always make sure to take some time to reflect and appreciate the relationships that mean the most to me.

Speaking of relationships, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for always being there for me. Your support and encouragement mean the world to me, and I feel truly lucky to have you in my life. Whether we're chatting on the phone or catching up over coffee, our conversations always leave me feeling uplifted and inspired.

I hope we can find some time soon to catch up in person. Perhaps we can plan a weekend getaway or a fun outing together? I'm open to suggestions, and I'm sure we can come up with something that we'll both enjoy. Let me know your thoughts when you have a chance.

Take care and stay in touch!

Warmly,

[Your Name]

Personal Letter #2:

Dear [Name],

I hope this letter finds you well. It's been too long since we last saw each other, and I wanted to extend an invitation to you for a weekend in the mountains with my family.

We will be driving up to the mountains on [Day, Date], and we would love to have you join us. We'll be leaving early in the morning, around [Time], and we can pick you up on the way. Please let me know if this works for you.

If you're able to come, please bring warm clothing and a sleeping bag. We'll be staying in a cozy cabin in the woods, and we're planning to do some hiking and exploring while we're there. There's also a lake nearby where we can go fishing and have a picnic.

We'll be returning on [Day, Date], and we should be back in town around [Time]. I hope you can make it, and I'm looking forward to spending some quality time with you in the great outdoors.

Take care and see you soon!

Warmly,

[Your Name]
