To calculate slope the equation
Y2-y1/x2-x1 can be used
To find slope you must have at least 2 points given to you

X Y
(-2,6)
(4,-2)
-2-6= -8
4+2= 6
-8/6 this can be simplified by dividing by 2
-4/3 is the final answer

Given:-

  • \textsf { ( -2 , 6 )}

\:

  • \textsf{( 4 , -2 )}

\:

To calculate:-

  • \textsf{Slope of the line = ?}

\:

By using formula:-

  • \small{ \underline{ \boxed{ \sf \purple{ Slope ( m ) = (y_2 - y_1)/(x_2 - x_1) }}}}

\:

Solution:-

  • \sf \: Slope ( m ) = (y_2 - y_1)/(x_2 - x_1)

\:

where,

\star \sf{ \pink{x_1 = -2 , x_2 = 4}}

\star \sf{ \color{hotpink}y_1 = 6 , y_2 = -2}

  • \sf \: = (-2 - 6)/(4 - ( - 2 ))

\:

  • \sf \: = ( - 8)/(4 + 2)

\:

  • \sf \: = ( - 8)/(6)

\:

[ divide by 2 ]

\:

  • \boxed {\sf \color{skyblue} = ( - 4)/(3) }

\:

hope it helps ⸙
