Answer:

Offering and receiving dowry are both social crimes because they involve the exchange of money, gifts, or other valuables in order to secure a marriage. This practice is a form of bribery, as it suggests that the bride’s family must offer payment in order to successfully arrange her marriage. It is also exploitative, as it places an unequal burden on the bride’s family, who often struggle to meet the demands for a large dowry and may even be forced into debt.

Dowry has long been condemned by international human rights organizations and governments, since it undermines the freedom of consent in marriage and encourages discrimination against women. The practice of dowry can lead to pressures on young women to marry someone of their parents’ choice, regardless of their own wishes or feelings. Moreover, women may face marital abuse if their husband believes that the dowry he received was too small or not of satisfactory quality.

In addition to all of these, dowry can lead to su***dal problem if the situation becomes intense. Thus in all the way ,it can be considered as crime .

That's why,in these modern days as well people offer and receive dowry which is one of the crosscutting issue or crime .
