There are 31 children in the class.

Tia says, "40% of the class are boys."
Is this possible? Why? Why not?

Answer:

Explanation:

40\% \text{ of } 31=(40)/(100) * 31 =(124)/(10) =12(2)/(5)

This is not possible because we cannot have
(2)/(5) of a person.
