Terry has pitchers that hold 2 L and 5 L . How can he use these pitchers to measure out exactly 3 L of water ?

Explanation:

1) Fill 2L pitcher
2) put those 2L on the 5L pitcher (now the 5L pitcher have 2L)
3) Fill 2L pitcher
4) put those 2L on the 5L pitcher (now the 5L pitcher have 4L)
5) Fill 2L pitcher
6) put what you can on the 5L pitcher (but you will only fill 1L since the capacity is 5L but it previously have 4L, now the 5L pitcher have 5L, but also your 2L pitcher have 1L)
7) drop on the ground the 5L (or use it, is water, don't waste it...)
8) put the 1L left in the 2L pitcher in the 5L pitcher (now the 5L pitcher have 1L)
9) Fill 2L pitcher
10) put those 2L on the 5L pitcher (now the 5L pitcher have 3L)
