The Kulaks resisted collectivization because they believed that it would take away of their property and rights. they would no longer own their land but instead be subject to state ownership. many of the Kulaks were part of wealthier classes, and collectivization threatened to reduce them to subsistence farmers, which was something they wanted to avoid.
