The dot plot shows how much hairdressers in margot’s area charge for a woman’s haircut. the least expensive cut is $25. margot described the data as having a spread from $25 to $47, seven gaps, a cluster from $35 to $37, and a center of $37. where did margot make an error? price of a woman’s haircut (in dollars) a dot plot going from 25 to 50. 25 has 2 dots, 27 has 1 dot, 29 has 2 dots, 30 has 3 dots, 32 has 1 dot, 35 has 3 dots, 36 has 6 dots, 37 has 4 dots, 40 has 5 dots, 44 has 1 dot, 45 has 2 dots, 47 has 1 dot. all other numbers have 0 dots. the spread is from $25 to $46. there are 11 gaps. the cluster is from $36 to $37. the center is at $36.

It seems that Margot made a few errors in her description of the data. Firstly, she mentioned that the least expensive cut was $25, but according to the dot plot, there are actually two dots at $25 which means there were two hairdressers charging this amount. Secondly, she stated that there were seven gaps in the data when in fact there are 11 gaps between prices with no dots.

Thirdly and most significantly, Margot described a cluster from $35 to $37 and a center of $37. However, based on the dot plot provided where we can see more clearly how many dots each price has than just looking at ranges like "from $35 to $37", it appears that there is actually a much larger cluster around the price of $36 (with six dots) rather than one centered at exactly$37 (which only has four dots). Therefore, the correct version would be:

The dot plot shows hairdresser prices for women's haircuts ranging from 25 dollars to 47 dollars. The spread is from 25 dollars to 46 dollars with eleven gaps between different prices without any corresponding counts. The largest cluster is centered around 36 dollars with six counts while second-largest group has four counts located around price point of approximately 37$.
