the area (A) of a trapezoid is calculated as

(1)/(2) h (b₁ + b₂ )

where h is the perpendicular height between the 2 parallel bases

here b₁ = 12 , b₂ = 9 and A = 73.5 , then


(1)/(2) h(12 + 9) = 73.5 ( multiply both sides by 2 to clear the fraction )

h(21) = 147

21h = 147 ( divide both sides by 21 )

h = 7 yards
