PLEASE HELP

You are a forensic investigator working in the Limitville County’s Collision Investigation Unit (C.I.U.), when you are paged on Saturday, May 8, at 10:30 p.m. about an accident occurring on Brumble Road. Once arriving at the scene, you immediately notice an ambulance, two patrol cars, a fire truck, a blue sedan, and a white SUV. You walk toward the blue sedan, which has crashed into a tree primarily on the driver’s side. The vehicle apparently took a sharp curve to the right in the road and then slammed into the tree. The firefighters are carefully evacuating a female passenger from the front seat, who appears to be severely injured and unconscious. As you carefully walk around the car, you look at the driver who is covered in broken glass from the windshield. You do note that the seat belt did not restrain him, but his and the passenger’s air bags were deployed. You deduce that he did not survive the crash and you confirm this with the firefighters. You locate the officer in charge and ask if the coroner has been notified to get the driver. Your partner arrives and begins taking pictures of the accident scene from all different angles and collects anything that may be of interest to the investigation. Since it is dark, you know that you will be back tomorrow to examine the scene more closely. You walk over to the area where the officer has finished questioning the driver of the white SUV. You glance at his car, noting any damage, and then begin your interview.

In your crime scene notebook:

What three questions should you ask the driver of the SUV?
Make a rough sketch of the scene of the accident.
Indicate five different angles that should photographed of the scene.
Identify three places the detectives should look for clues.

Answer:

Three questions to ask the driver of the SUV:

Did you witness the accident?

Do you know the driver or the passenger of the blue sedan?

Were you involved in the accident in any way?

a rough sketch of the scene of the accident may include the positions of the vehicles, the location of the tree that the blue sedan crashed into, any skid marks or debris on the road, and any other relevant details.

Five different angles that should be photographed of the scene:

A wide shot of the entire accident scene, showing the positions of all vehicles and the surrounding area.

Close-up shots of the damage to the blue sedan, focusing on the driver's side and the front of the vehicle.

Photos of any skid marks or debris on the road that may help to determine the speed and trajectory of the blue sedan before the crash.

Shots of the area around the tree that the sedan crashed into, including any damage to the tree and the ground.

Pictures of the white SUV, showing any damage that may have occurred as a result of the accident.

Three places the detectives should look for clues:

Inside the blue sedan, particularly on the driver's side, for any evidence of driver impairment or distraction.

On the road around the curve where the accident occurred, for any marks or debris that may help to determine the speed and trajectory of the sedan.

In the surroundings of the accident scene, including the area where the white SUV was parked and any nearby buildings or streetlights, for any potential witnesses or surveillance footage that may have captured the incident.
