You first find the lcm of 8 and 4 which is 8

Then make a dividing line (/) with the lcm as the numerator.

After which you start diviing the lcm by each denominator of the two terms, and then multiplying with their numerators:

8/8 x 7 + 8/4 x 3 all over the lcm which is 8

(1 x 7 + 2 x 3)/8

(7 + 6)/8

13/8
