−11= a - 5 over 6 please i need help

Answer: -36

I’m going to flip this around to make it a little simpler, a-5/6 = -11

What we want to do is get the numbers away from the variable a

First we need to cancel out the -5, In order to do this we simply add 5 to both sides

-5 + 5 + a /6 = - 11 + 5
=
a/6 = -6

Now we need to remove the /6 to accomplish this all we need to do is multiply both sides by 6

a/6 x 6 = - 6 x 6
=
a = -36
