Cross multiply,

4*(x +14) = 11*x

4x + 4*14 = 11x

4x + 56 = 11x

Subtract 4x from both sides

56 = 11x - 4x

56 = 7x

7x = 56

Divide both sides by 7

x = 56/7

x = 8
