Final answer:

Handwashing with soap and water is recommended in different situations to prevent the spread of pathogens, while hand gel can be used as an alternative if soap and water are not available. Moisturizing lotion can be used to combat dry hands.

Step-by-step explanation:

Handwashing is recommended in various situations to prevent the spread of pathogens. When going off the floor to eat lunch or just finishing using the restroom, it is best to wash your hands with soap and warm water. If soap and water are not available, hand gel can be used as an alternative. Walking into the patient room without touching the patient also warrants handwashing. If hands have visible soil after caring for a patient, handwashing should be done. When hands get dry, it is advisable to use a moisturizing lotion.
