A 3D modeler is designing a component of a castle in a video game. She places a

cone on top of a cylinder so they line up and share the same radius. The cone and
the cylinder share the same height. If the volume of the cone is 50 cm?
what is
the volume of the whole object?

Explanation:

the volume of a cylinder is

pi×r²×h

r being the radius, h the height.

the volume of a cone is

pi×r²×h/3

r and h are the same for both objects.

so, we see, the volume of the cylinder is 3 times the volume of the cone.

volume of the cone is 50 cm³.

so, volume of the cylinder is 50×3 = 150 cm³

that means the volume of the whole object is

50 + 150 = 200 cm³
