Isaiah and his children went into a grocery store that sells peaches for $1.50 each and mangos for $1 each. Isaiah has $15 to spend and must buy no less than 12 peaches and mangos altogether. If xx represents the number of peaches purchased and yy represents the number of mangos purchased, write and solve a system of inequalities graphically and determine one possible solution.

One of the possible solutions for the number of peaches and mangoes from the graph is : x = 6 and y = 6

Using the information given :

  • cost of peaches = 1.50
  • cost of mangoes = 1

Total amount to spend = $15

Total number of fruits = 12

Now we can have the inequality expression thus ;

1.5x + y <= 15 ___(1)

x + y >= 12 ___(2)

From the graph, one of the possible solutions is :

  • x = 6 ; y = 6
