The area of triangle IJK is 5.5 square units.

How to find the area of the triangle

The triangle IJK with vertices I(-8, 6), J(-4, 9), and K(-9, 8) will have the area soled as follows

Area = 1/2 | (-8) * (9 - 8) + (-4) (8 - 6) + (-9) * (6 - 9) |

Area = 1/2 | (-8)(1) + (-4) (2) + (-9) (-3) |

Area = 1/2 | -8 + (-8) + 27

Area = 1/2 | -8 - 8 + 27 |

Area = 1/2 | 11 |

Area = 5.5 square units

The image of triangle, with the area solved using graph calculator is attached
