The value of x and y are 42 and 138 degrees respectively

Since the sum pf adjacent angles is 180 degrees, hence:

x + 138 = 180

Subtract 138 from both sides

x + 138 - 138 = 180 - 138

x = 180 - 138

x = 42 degrees

Also x + y = 180 (angle on a straight line

42 + y = 180

y = 180 - 42

y = 138 degrees

Hence the value of x and y are 42 and 138 degrees respectively
