The area of the shaded in the diagram is 63.6cm²

The area of a circle is expressed as

A = πr²

where r is the radius of a circle

radius = diameter/2

Since the centre of the two circles is 9cm, this means that the distance between AB is 9cm. The diameter of the shaded part is 9cm

Radius = 9/2 = 4.5cm

area of the shaded circle = 3.14 × 4.5²

= 63.6cm²

Therefore the area of the shaded region is 63.6cm²
