What is a map?

It is a representation of a geographic area.

It is the way of presenting the characteristics of a region graphically.

In the image to which the question refers, we can see that the map is being presented in a flat way, without highlighting curvatures but establishing a straight line in its projection. Furthermore, the map contorts in a conical shape, allowing a well-defined view of the upper part of the globe.
