Answer:

To find the number of green apples he bought, We do the following:

  1. calculate the total mass of red and yellow apples bought 1.5+0.75=2.25 pounds
  2. Since the mass of green apples bought was 1.6 times the combined mass of yellow and red apples bought we get;
  3. 2.25×1.6=3.6pounds
  4. He bought 3.6 pounds green apples
