DNA: contains information for you to look and function, found in tightly coiled X shape.

Gene: a section of DNA.

Traits: a genetically determined characteristic (eye color, hair texture, etc.).

DNA is a long, double-stranded molecule that contains the genetic instructions for an organism's development, functioning, and reproduction. It is made up of four chemical building blocks called bases: adenine (A), guanine (G), cytosine (C), and thymine (T).

Gene is a unit of heredity that is transferred from parents to offspring and is responsible for determining a particular characteristic or trait. Genes are made up of segments of DNA and are located on chromosomes.

Traits are determined by the combination of alleles that an individual has for the genes that control that trait. Traits can be qualitative, meaning they have only two or a few possible values (such as eye color), or quantitative, meaning they can vary across a range of values (such as height).
