The probability of number of defectives

  • exceeds 13 = 0.1239
  • is less than 8 = 0.2061

How to get the probability using statistical tool

exceeds 13

We have to solve this using the excel formula

P(X > 13)

= 1 - binom.cdf(13, 100, 0.1)

= 0.1239

b. is less than 8

Also using excel statistical tool we have:

P(X < 8)

= binom.cdf(7, 100, 0.1)

= 0.2061

Hence the The probability of number of defectives

  • exceeds 13 = 0.1239
  • is less than 8 = 0.2061
