The colored triangle that stands in the center of the pyramid is a right triangle. The side of the pyramid is 64, so the bottom edge of the colored triangle is 32. That 32 inch side is a leg of the right triangle. The other length given is the hypotenuse, 68 inches. We can use Pythagorean theorem.

x^2 + 32^2 = 68^2

x^2 + 1024 = 4624

x^2 = 4624 - 1024

x^2 = 3600

square root both sides.

x = 60
